GBA games style Sway-WM configuration: Alacritty
Working on Alacritty wasn’t so easy, but not in the way you might think... The method is actually quite simple: there are several lines that control the colours, as well as those that change the font and size.
This post is going to be short, but there’s not much to say.
I like having a transparent terminal, so I went for opacity=0.4.
However, this opacity on a white background surely gives some visual issues. Indeed, I must admit that this is the part of the configuration that convinces me the least. I very carefully selected colours that could be readable enough on the screen, but it’s definitely not always the case... sometimes it’s quite hard to read.
Other than that, this part was not inspired by any particular game. Maybe choosing a particular theme could solve this issue and add more creativity to the configuration.
So, overall, this is the part that I’ll keep working on when I can, because for now I found a good compromise, but I’m not exactly 100% happy about the final result.
On the other hand, I also didn’t really want to spend too much time on this or perfect it (it's not perfect but it's still very usable for me!), because honestly, the terminal is something that Linux users deal with very often, so it’s something very personal: from the choice of what terminal to use, to the preferred colors, opacity, font size, ecc.
There’s also the fact that I don’t mind my current background, but people who might want to replicate my configuration would probably prefer to change it, and, in that case, there’s a high chance that Alcritty colours will have to change as well.
